Sold commercially as Signal Iduna Park, it was built for the 1974 World Cup and holds about 81,000. The Yellow Wall, a standing south terrace of 24,454, is the largest in Europe and the engine of the loudest atmosphere in the Bundesliga. Dortmund average over 80,000 in the league, a German record. It staged the 2006 World Cup semi final.
