Anfield
Opened 1884, home of Liverpool FC since 1892
Overview
Built in 1884 for Everton, who left in a rent dispute in 1892, whereupon landlord John Houlding founded Liverpool FC to fill the ground. The Kop, named after a Boer War battlefield, holds one of the most famous standing traditions in world football. You Will Never Walk Alone rings out before every kick off, loudest on European nights. The 2024 Anfield Road expansion lifted capacity to about 61,000.
