Overview

One of the first purpose built football grounds in the world, opened in 1892 with two tier stands that astonished contemporaries. It hosted FA Cup finals early in the 20th century, World Cup matches in 1966 and Euro 96. Everton departed in 2025 after 133 years for a new dockside stadium, ending the longest continuous top flight tenancy at a single ground. The old lady bowed out to a sold out farewell.
