Overview

The concrete bowl of 1952 replaced older grounds on the same site. In 1964 a qualifier against Argentina ended in the deadliest crowd disaster in football history, with more than 300 dead, reshaping safety rules across the continent. Alianza Lima and Universitario play big matches here, and the national team fills about 50,000 seats.
