Overview

Opened as Stadio San Paolo in 1959 and renamed for Diego Maradona after his death in 2020. Maradona guided Napoli to two titles here in the late 1980s, and the 1990 World Cup semi final between Italy and Argentina turned the ground oddly quiet in his honor. Renovated for the 2019 Universiade, it seats about 55,000 of the loudest fans in Italy.
