FNB Stadium
Opened 1989 as Soccer City, rebuilt 2010, near Soweto
Overview
The calabash shaped bowl, modeled on an African pot, hosted the 2010 World Cup final, Spain against the Netherlands, and the tournament opening match. Nelson Mandela addressed a mass rally here days after his 1990 release, and his memorial service filled it in 2013. With about 94,000 seats it is the largest stadium in Africa. Kaizer Chiefs call it home.
