Overview

Pittodrie became the first all seated and all covered stadium in British football in 1978. Under Alex Ferguson in the 1980s Aberdeen broke the Old Firm hold on Scottish football and won the 1983 Cup Winners Cup against Real Madrid. The ground beside the North Sea holds about 20,000, and the club has long planned a new stadium.
