Overview
Built in about nine months for the first World Cup, its inaugural final saw Uruguay beat Argentina before 93,000 on 30 July 1930. FIFA honors it as a monument of world football, and the museum beneath the stands tells the story. The Copa America? finals and Uruguayan clasico occasions still fill the tower framed bowl. Capacity is about 60,000.
