The 2021 to 2023 renovation lifted capacity to about 84,500, the largest in South America, with premium tiers stacked over the old bowl. The 1978 World Cup final, Argentina against the Netherlands, was decided here under military rule. Superclasico nights with Boca are the fiercest in the continent. Nunez, on the river, is its home district.
